Billboard Hot 100: #45
Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs: #14
Hot Rap Songs: #4

When Arrested Development released their debut album, 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of... in 1992, they quickly became one of the most popular hip hop groups of the early '90s. The album went 4x Platinum on the strength of three crossover hits: Tennessee, People Everyday, and Mr. Wendal. However, at the time of their second release, 1994's Zingalamaduni, the hip hop scene had changed dramatically. The airwaves were almost completely dominated by West Coast gangsta rap and alternative rap groups like Arrested Development struggeled to stay successful. The album didn't do nearly as well as their first one (it's didn't even go Gold), but it did spawn this moderately successful single, Ease My Mind.

The group broke up 2 years later, only to reunite in 2000. Although they never regained their success in the United States, they have a fairly strong following in Japan to this day.

Rome - Do You Like This (1997)

Billboard Hot 100: #31
Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs: #10

His first single, "I Belong To You", was one of the biggest R&B hits of the late 90s. It was still getting a lot of airplay when this single was released. Even though this song was a Top 10 R&B hit, it was always overshawdowed by "I Belong To You", causing a lot of people to forget about it. And since Rome has never matched the success of "I Belong To You", people consider him a one hit wonder (which technically isn't true). This was the second single from his self-titled debut album.

Portarit - Honey Dip (1993)

Billboard Hot 100: Did Not Chart
Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs: #18

At the time of their debut, the New Jack Swing era was just about dead. If they came out just a few years earlier, they probably would've been more successful. This was the follow-up single to their biggest hit "Here We Go Again". It's from their self-titled debut album.

Heavy D & The Boyz - Got Me Waiting (1994)

Billboard Hot 100: #20
Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs: #3
Hot Rap Songs: #1

Heavy D is an underrated artist. A lot of his songs are "forgotten", but this was actually the second biggest hit of his career after his signature song "Now That We Found Love" . Even with that, you'd probably remember "We Got Our Own Thang", "Is It Good To You" or "Big Daddy" before you remember this one.
